Why would we not recommend github? Personally it's useful to me because we can have restrictive permissions based on the token, while otherwise with the gh cli I'd need to manually confirm commands (although I do know you can whitelist certain commands but that seems less efficient for me)

@hubertdeng123 its extremely poor quality - it consumes a huge swath of your context tokens. CLI is significantly better in that regard. Like its really just not well designed, and its actually why theres so much conversation around "MCP is bad". GitHub is single handledly the cause of that mindset. Id love to see them overhaul it and do better, but all they did was ship some fast thing that just wraps their APIs and exposes a bunch of stuff no one wanted.

if you have stuff configured in claude code you can see how bad it is with /context iirc
